LANE CLOSURE

MaineDOT will periodically close a lane on the existing Veterans Memorial Bridge which connects Portland’s West End to South Portland over the Fore River. This will enhance safety for both the traveling public and the workers during construction.

Drivers using the Veterans Memorial Bridge may expect some delays on these days.  We regret any inconvenience caused by the closure and traffic restrictions and urge drivers to drive safely and courteously. Please observe all signage and use extra caution when traveling through the construction area.

MaineDOT reminds all motorists to continue to drive safely through the work zone and obey the posted speed limit of 35mph. Violations committed within work zones shall be subject to double the fine amount.
